Project In Motion’s fifth annual Above Borders Aerial Dance Festival will take place November 11–13th, 2016, featuring in- ternationally acclaimed artists: Bill Evans (modern and tap danc- er), Sam Tribble (circus artist), and Brandy Leary (aerial dance). This festival has run for the past Above Borders 2016four years in Las Cruces, NM with the aim of exposing our local audience to world-class dance and circus arts.

Would you love to work with Above Borders’ extraordinary art- ists on original choreographic works? We are offering a special three-day performance intensive to create performances for Sat- urday night’s show. The performance intensive will be 2–3 per day on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday before the show. We will divide the performers according to Brandy,William and Sam’s need. This is a great opportunity to explore how performances are dreamed up! Specific times and schedule to be announced. November 9–11th

Project In Motion is the premiere conduit for circus and aerial arts in Southern New Mexico and Northern Texas. As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit dance company, we seek to afford artists and their community the opportunity to experiment and develop the world of performance through creative workshops and col- laborative projects.

Featured performers:

Sam Tribble is a former collegiate, All American gymnast. He has been inducted into Sacra- mento’s Hall Of Fame for outstanding athletes. Sam currently trains Junior Olympic athletes and participates in the Professional Development Program for USA Gymnastics. Sam was the first US Worlds team coach for the sport of Cyr Wheel and has created the Progressive Axis Training (PAT)tm technique for teaching skill progression for the art of Cyr. He is certified through the IRV as a tech- nical judge and served on the board of USA Wheel Gymnastics as a technical advisor.

Sam coaches athletes of all ages for bodyweight training, alternative fitness and several art forms. Athletes have come as far as Russia, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand, France, Switzerland and all across the US to seek his hands on training and personal advice and training. Sam is a firm believer in Sports Mental Training and is a certified hypnotherapist. Sam continues to travel internationally to perform Acro (Adagio) and the art of Cyr, in addition to hosting teacher training and intensive around the country. spinnovation.me

Brandy Leary creates contemporary dances through the body: Her works have been produced and performed in Canada, Europe, India, South Africa and the USA in the- atres, urban environments, festivals, museums, art galleries and isolated landscapes. In Canada, she works with western approaches to aerial rope, the bridge discipline of Axis Syllabus, post contemporary dance/circus practices and psychic/shamanistic explorations to create dances.

Brandy founded Anandam Dance theatre as an umbrella structure for her performance projects and is its artistic director. She is a founder and co-director of Collective Space and co-founder/co-artistic director of the Contemporary Circus Arts Festival of Toronto. Her work has received support from all levels of government, public and private funders and she has been the recipient and of numerous prestigious awards and fellowships. anandam.ca

William “Bill” Evans is professor emeritus at the College at Brockport, SUNY and distinguished profes- sor emeritus at the University of New Mexico. The Bill Evans Dance Company has appeared in all 50 states, throughout Mexico and Canada, and has taken Mr. Evans to 24 other countries. BEDCO has appeared at the American Dance Festival, the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and many international dance festivals in Latin America, Europe and Australia.

He has been awarded with several fellowships and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and received the only 2015 Choreography Fellowship from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. He has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, the New Mexico Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, Lifetime Achievement Awards from the National Dance Education Organization, the American Dance Guild and Dance Teacher Magazine and an honorary doctorate from the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.
